She was born August 28, 1930, in Meredosia, the daughter of John, Sr. and Lena Newman Ruyle. She married David Dwight Hilton, Sr. on Sept. 10, 1950, in Jacksonville, and he preceded her in death on Dec. 11, 1985.

She is survived by one son, David (Mindy Rausch) Hilton, Jr., and one daughter, Jennifer (Mark) Bennett, both of Meredosia; five grandchildren, Kasandra Bennett, Adam Bennett, Rilee Bennett, Fawn Hilton and Alla Hilton; and one brother, Tucker (Wanda) Ruyle, and one sister, Connie (John) Petri, both of Meredosia. She was preceded in death by two sons, Douglas Hilton and Christopher Hilton; three brothers, Lawrence, Dean and Leon (surviving wife Carol) Ruyle; and three sisters, Loretta Flynn, Linda Lou Asbury, and Sharon Lee Ruyle in infancy.

Mrs. Hilton enjoyed all sports, and was an avid Chicago Cubs fan. She enjoyed knitting and sewing, and making things for her family. Doris especially loved spending time with her children and grandchildren.
