Katherine “Kay” T. Fox, 87, of Virginia, IL died Tuesday, July 24, 2012 at Passavant Area Hospital in Jacksonville, IL.

She was born November 10, 1924 in St. Louis, MO; the daughter of Harold E. and Ann (Wanous) Toussaint. She married James R. Fox on June 25, 1950 in Jacksonville and he survives.

She is also survived by four children, Jana Fox Raymond of Virginia, Joann Felker (husband, Brian) of Livermore, CA, Mark Fox (wife, Karon) of Jacksonville, and Joyce Patterson (husband, Rick) of Phelan, CA; nine grandchildren; two great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Harold Toussaint, MD (surviving wife, Joyce of Glen Carbon).

A 1942 graduate of Jacksonville High School, Kay received her bachelor’s degree in art from MacMurray College in 1945 and her master’s degree in art from the University of Iowa in Iowa City, IA. She taught art for seven years at David Prince Junior High School in Jacksonville.

Kay was a member of the Virginia United Methodist Church, Walnut Grove Household Science Club, Cass County Home Extension, and Daughters of the American Revolution. She was a devoted wife, homemaker, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She was a passionate and talented artist and a dedicated and active church member.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 am Friday, July 27, 2012, at the Virginia United Methodist Church in Virginia with burial at Walnut Ridge Cemetery in Virginia. The family will meet friends at the church from 10:00 am Friday until the time of services. Memorial gifts are suggested to the Virginia Memorial Public Library for their Large Print Book Collection, Cunningham Children’s Home, or Cass County Food Pantry.
