Leonard C. Schuerman, 82, of Jacksonville, IL died Friday, Feb. 8, 2013, at St. John’s Hospice in Springfield, IL.

He was born July 14, 1930, in Springfield, the son of Theodore and Anna Louise Reiser Schuerman. He married Mary Crane on Dec. 9, 1950, in Springfield, and she survives.

He is also survived by three children, Leonard (wife, Colette) Schuerman of Chicago, Beverly Schuerman of Springfield, and John Schuerman of San Diego, CA; six grandchildren, Rachelle (husband, Brian) Bahlow of Springfield, Brandalynn Ann Schuerman of Riverton, Dawn Schuerman, Nichole Schuerman, both of Chicago, Jessica (husband, Scott) Hoffman of St. Louis, MO, and Scott Schuerman of Carbondale; one great grandson, Brock Werner of Riverton; one brother, Leroy (wife, Dorothy) Schuerman of Springfield, and two sisters, Ruth Reiner of New Mexico, and Margaret (husband, Robert) Kuznik of California.

He was preceded in death by one son, Richard Schuerman; three brothers, Carl, George, and Bernard Schuerman; and one sister, Eleanor Schuerman.

Mr. Schuerman was a truck driver for Anderson-Clayton/Kraft for over 25 years. He served in the Navy during the Korean War and was a lifetime member of Knights of Columbus. He loved to golf and fish, and was an avid boater.

Cremation rites have been accorded. A memorial Mass will be celebrated 10:00am Thursday, Feb. 14, 2013, at the Church of Our Saviour in Jacksonville, where the family will meet friends from 9:00am to 10:00am at the church. Burial will be held at 12:00 NOON Thursday at Camp Butler National Cemetery in Springfield. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts are suggested to St. John’s Hospice or Church of Our Saviour.
