Betty Lou Mays, 82, of Jacksonville, IL passed away Friday, Oct. 30, 2026, at The Grove.

She was born Apr. 15, 1944, in Carrollton, the daughter of Maynard James and Grace Juanita (Orr) Grable.

She is survived by her daughter, Cheri Mays of Quincy; four grandchildren, Jasmine Freeman of Quincy, Shawna Freeman of Jacksonville, Myla Freeman of Quincy, and Tasha Freeman of Quincy; six great grandchildren, Demarius Deverger, Karvell Freeman, Ilias Freeman, Havik Freeman, Jasiya Purham, and Joshua Mims Jr.; and one brother and one sister, James (Marilyn) Grable and Linda Gauges, both of Jacksonville. She was preceded in death by her parents; and three brothers, Larry Grable, Fred Grable (surviving wife Debbie of Jacksonville), and Jeff Grable.

Betty Lou was a Certified Nursing Assistant at the Jacksonville Developmental Center. She enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, reading, shopping, playing games on the computer and talking on the phone.
