William H. "Bill" Knapp, 91, of Meredosia, IL died Tuesday, Oct. 18, 2022, at Jacksonville Skilled Nursing & Rehab. He was born Feb. 19, 1931, in Calhoun County, the son of Vina Inman Knapp. He married Wilma Pitchford on Apr. 1, 1950, in Jacksonville and she survives. He is also survived by two sons and three daughters, Bill Knapp of Big Horn, WY, Joyce (Jim) Lillquist of Ft. White, FL, Debbie White of Carson, NM, Rhonda (Alan) Kircher of Concord, and Bruce (Angie) Knapp of Meredosia; nine grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; one great-great grandson; and two sisters, Margaret Witherbee of Portland, OR, and JoAnn Carriger of Jacksonville. He was preceded in death by one sister and four brothers, Mary Pearl Morris, Charles Knapp, Gene Knapp (surviving wife Erma of Pittsfield), Tom Knapp, and Jim Knapp (surviving wife Wilma of South Jacksonville). Mr. Knapp worked for 32 years at Fiat-Allis in Springfield, retiring in 1983. He and Wilma resided in Virden during his employment, and then they moved to Meredosia upon his retirement. He loved hunting, fishing, and everything about spending time on the river. He especially loved spending time with his family. The family will host a celebration of life gathering from 1-4 p.m. Sunday, October 23, 2022, at the Boilermaker Union Hall, 304 Main St, Meredosia, IL.
