Charlotte Bernice Harris, 71, of Jacksonville, IL, died Fri., Feb. 19, 2021, in Springfield. She was born Sept. 17, 1949, in Meredosia, the daughter of Russell and Violet Bernice Easley Surratt. She married Leo Harris Sr. and he preceded her in death. She is survived by two sons, Russell (Brandi) Harris, and Kent Harris; grandsons, Gareth (Laura) Surratt and Cory (Makayla) Harris; great grandchildren, Joseph Deady and Aliyah Harris; two brothers, Tim (Jan) Surratt, and James (Gena) Surratt; many nieces and nephews; and her best friend of 60 years, Marcia Hardwick. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her sister and brother-in-law, Becky and Ray Mueller; and three sons, Leo Harris Jr., Gary Harris, and Kenneth Surratt. Mrs. Harris lived in Meredosia for many years where she started her family. She then lived in Hanford, CA, before moving back to Meredosia. Later in life, she moved to Jacksonville, moving in with Russell and Brandi, Cory, and Marcia. Charlotte had worked at Tate Cheese, then for Holiday Inn, and retired from Goodwill Industries in 2010. She loved to watch movies, specifically older films, and enjoyed reading, video games, and fishing. She also liked Cher and Adam Lambert. Her favorite thing of all was being with her family. A graveside service will be held 11 a.m., Thursday Feb. 25, 2021, at Oakland Cemetery in Meredosia. The Buchanan & Cody Funeral Home in Meredosia is in charge of the arrangements.
