Curtis R. Gant, 90, of Meredosia, IL, went to be with his Heavenly Father on Saturday, April 27, 2024.

He was born Oct. 26, 1933, in Nebo, the son of Otha Ralph and Edith Lucille (Martin) Gant. He married Judith Kay Buhlig on Jan. 24, 1966, and she survives.

He is also survived by two daughters, Ginger (Billy) Towslee of Bryan, TX, and Trudy of Chatham; four grandchildren, Amber (Mike) Kamp of Farley, IA, Kate (Dave) Gill of Cedar Rapids, IA, Derek (Kati) Klopfer of Springfield and Karli (Cy) Bailey of College Station, TX; six great grandchildren; and one nephew and two nieces. He was preceded in death by two daughters, Pamla in infancy, and Christine Norris; one son, Michael Seckman; one brother, Russell Gant (surviving wife, Rita); and two sisters, Rosalee McDannold, and Cathleen Gant.

Curt was a 1951 graduate of Griggsville High School. He worked for Wabash Railroad for fourteen years and later worked for National Starch in Meredosia for thirty-two years, retiring in 1997. He became a Christian in 1977 and joined the Meredosia First Baptist Church where he taught Sunday School for many years. He was one of the organizers of the Meredosia Rescue Squad. Curt was an avid antique collector and was particularly fond of antique clocks, kerosene lamps, and anything railroad related. He also enjoyed fishing and mushroom hunting. He was an avid fan of the St. Louis Cardinals and Fighting Illini Basketball.

A visitation will be held from 10:00 am to 11:00 am Thursday, May 2, 2024, at the Buchanan & Cody Funeral Home in Meredosia. A graveside service will be held immediately following the visitation at Oakland Cemetery in Meredosia. Memorials are suggested to Meredosia Rescue Squad or Meredosia Food Pantry.
