Darrel D. Patrick, 91, of Pleasant Plains, IL passed away Sunday, Dec. 1, 2024, at Springfield Memorial Hospital.

He was born June 18, 1933, the son of Thomas and Allie (McDonald) Patrick. He grew up in Salisbury, where his parents owned and operated the local grocery store. He graduated from Pleasant Plains High School in 1952 and served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. Darrel's career has always been as a skilled mechanic, specializing in electronics, in addition to owning and operating several successful businesses in the Springfield area. He was a longtime member of Zion Lutheran Church.

Darrel married his lifetime sweetheart, Shirley Lange, on Oct. 3, 1953, in Pleasant Plains and she preceded him in death on April 20, 2024. He is survived by two daughters, Deneen (Ron) Omer and Dareea (Mark) Paiva; four grandchildren, Renna (Tracy) Brock, Rebba (Daniel Feldman) Omer, Quinton Paiva, and Quincey Paiva; two great grandchildren, Jayce and Jadyn Brock, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; his son, Darance Patrick; and his brother, Ronald Patrick.

A funeral service will be held 10 a.m. Friday, Dec. 6, 2024, at Zion Lutheran Church in Pleasant Plains with burial to follow at Pleasant Plains Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 9:30-10 a.m. prior to the service. Memorials are suggested to Zion Lutheran Church or to Pleasant Plains Rescue Squad.
