Obituary

Charles David Borrowman, age 68, of Meredosia, passed away unexpectedly on January 24, 2025, at his home. His family is deeply saddened by the loss of their dad, grandpa, and brother.

He was born on June 25, 1956, in Pittsfield, IL to Charles Borrowman and Joy Hillman.

He is survived by his daughter Alaina Weatherford (husband Glenn) of Ottawa, Franci Sweetin (husband Britton) of Jacksonville, and son Chad Borrowman of California. His surviving grandchildren are Cadence Klatt, Ava and Wes Weatherford, and Briar and Callen Sweetin. He is also survived by his sisters, Zoe Chase of Springfield, Ginger Bruce of Mattoon, and Carrie Jo Borrowman of Springfield. He was preceded in death by his parents and his granddaughter, Maryelle Joy Weatherford.

He graduated from Griggsville High School in 1974. He worked for Watertower Paint and Repair Co. out of Clear Lake, Iowa as a commercial painter until an injury forced him into early retirement. After retirement he kept himself busy as a carpenter, handyman, and owner of a small mowing business.

Most days Dave was seen running around town in his signature bib overalls, flannel shirt, and Red Wing boots. You could often find him at "the office" having a few cocktails. He was a great friend to so many people. Becoming Dave's friend meant having a friend for life. If he wasn't running around Meredosia, he was at his grandkids' sporting events or having Sunday visits with his daughter. He loved his girls and grandkids fiercely and could often be heard bragging about their accomplishments.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Ronald McDonald House near Advocate Children's Hospital in Oak Lawn, IL. Dave became very passionate about raising money and collecting pop tabs for the charity after staying in this particular Ronald McDonald House during his granddaughter's life.

A memorial service will be held Monday, February 3, 2025, at the Buchanan & Cody Funeral Home in Meredosia, with burial at Oakland Cemetery. The family will meet friends from 11AM until the time of service. The Buchanan & Cody Funeral Home in Meredosia is in charge of the arrangements. Condolences may be left online at buchanancody.com.
