Debra Rebecca Greer, 71, of Ashland, Illinois, passed away peacefully at her home on Tuesday, July 21, 2026, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born on February 5, 1955, in Springfield, Illinois, to Elza and Barbara Jones. As the eldest of six daughters, she grew up in a close-knit and loving family. She graduated from Ashland High School and spent many years working for Ameren CIPS. On June 9, 1973, she married Kenneth Greer at First Baptist Church of Ashland. After retiring, she volunteered as secretary at First Baptist Church of Ashland, where she was a member and faithfully served her church family. She also shared her love of Jesus with children, as a volunteer for Vacation Bible School, and as the director of the church's AWANA ministry. Debra was active in the Ashland Community Club for many years and was proud to help plan the Ashland Sesquicentennial Celebration.
Debra found joy in taking care of the people she loved. She enjoyed cooking for her family and was happiest when everyone was gathered around the table. She loved sewing, crocheting, basket weaving, and making jewelry. She had a special love for animals, and had many beloved pets over the years. She adored her grandchildren, and enjoyed cheering them on at their sporting events, concerts, school programs, and other activities. More than anything, she loved her family, and treasured every moment spent with them.
