Dionne Renee Brown, 51, of Jacksonville, IL, passed away Tuesday, May 9, 2023, at HSHS St. Johns Hospital in Springfield. She was born August 4, 1971, in Jacksonville, the daughter of Ronnie and Vicky (Irvin) Brown. She is survived by her parents of Jacksonville; her sister, Rhonda (Jason) Morton of Chambersburg; her niece, Ali Morton of Jacksonville; two nephews, Jase and Jesse Morton of Chambersburg; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, JoAnn and Jerome Irvin; her paternal grandparents, Earl and Delores Brown; and three uncles and one aunt. On Feb. 4, 1991, Dionnes life dramatically changed when she was hit by a drunk driver and made to live the rest of her life in a wheelchair. What was special about Dionne was her ability to bounce back. Dionne participated in victim impact panels, MADD events, and even starred in a public service video with the Secretary of State, Jesse White. Dionne was an outstanding student, athlete, and typist. She was attending college when this accident happened. She enjoyed many trips to Vegas, playing Bingo, and cherished the time she spent with friends and family. Dionnes family would like to thank all the people who were engaged in making her life good; Lana Kay Lemmon, Allison Lawson, Stacey Wommack, Theresa Miller, Kristie Maro, Jan Ala, Vicki Barth and many many more you all showed so much love for Dionne. Funeral services will be held 12:00 PM Thursday, May 11, 2023, at the Buchanan & Cody Funeral Home in Jacksonville, with burial at Oakland Cemetery in Meredosia.
