Obituary

Donald L. "Donnie" Shull, 62, of Jacksonville, IL, died Monday, January 29, 2024, at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.

He was born September 28, 1961, to Thomas and Marion (Strowmatt) Shull.

He is survived his cousins including Tracy (Jim) Ashbaugh of Waverly and their daughter, Savanna of Indiana; Chad (Fritzi) Strowmatt of Texas, Chrissy Strowmatt, and Jason Strowmatt of Colorado. Also surviving are several aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Donnie graduated from Winchester High School in1980. Shortly after graduation and until his retirement, he worked at Mobil Chemical, and the companies that followed in the ownership.

Growing up in Manchester, IL, Donnie enjoyed playing basketball and riding mini-bikes. He then grew to riding Harley-Davidson motorcycles and his "Fat Boy" motorcycle was definitely his favorite as he traveled around the country on 2-wheels. Over the years, he also played on several softball teams. Donnie enjoyed watching televised/streamed high school sports, especially those played by West Central High School. He was an avid St. Louis Cardinal and Indianapolis Colts fan.

Donnie's greatest enjoyment was playing pool with all his friends. He was very competitive and played 3 nights a week in leagues in the area. Donnie's best times were when he and his friends traveled to pool tournaments in Las Vegas, Orlando, and St. Louis. During those times, there were quite a few wins along with a lot of laughs.

Donnie was a respected Team Leader at Mobil Chemical and always a thoughtful, caring person to his family and friends.
