Donna Jean Bruington, 86, of Jacksonville, IL passed away Wednesday, Oct. 28, 2026, at Jacksonville Memorial Hospital.

She was born Feb. 1, 1940, in Greenview, the daughter of Arie and Edith Mae (Weasel) Ackley. She married Edwin B. Bruington on Feb. 22, 1992, in Jacksonville and he survives.

She is also survived by her son, Les Ballenger of Jacksonville; stepchildren Bethany Bruington of Jacksonville, Andrew (Adriane) Bruington of Jacksonville, and Jennifer Bruington of Rockwall, TX; two grandchildren, Brittney (Grant) Robinson of Springfield and Bryce Ballenger of Jacksonville; great-grandson Joel Robinson; and step grandchildren Adam Bruington of Quincy, Alexis Bruington of New York, NY, Landon/. McLarry of Hawaii, and Skyler McLarry of Lubbock, TX. She was preceded in death by her parents; and two brothers and a sister, Donald Wayne Ackley, Rosemary Blake and Robert Ackley.

Mrs. Bruington was a 1958 graduate of Jacksonville High School. She was a computer programmer for WARECO for 16 years. She then worked as a bookkeeper for 30 years at Lukeman Clothing Company and also at Zumbahlen & Eyth and Associates for 6 years. Donna especially enjoyed painting and crocheting.

A graveside funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Nov. 2, 2026, at Arcadia Cemetery. The Buchanan & Cody Funeral Home in Jacksonville is in charge of the arrangements. Condolences may be left at buchanancody.com.
