Donna J. Colwell, 90, a longtime Jacksonville, IL resident died Monday, Nov. 28, 2022, in Clinton, IA. She was born Aug. 20, 1932, in Jacksonville, the daughter of Robert and Anna Alma (Evans) Elmore. She married Gilbert L. Colwell on Oct. 8, 1950, in Springfield and he preceded her in death on Jan. 27, 1995. She is survived by one daughter and two sons, Diane (Bruce) Christensen of Fulton, David (Gina) Colwell of Pleasant Hill, and Mike (Susan) Colwell of Jacksonville; ten grandchildren; and forty great grandchildren. Mrs. Colwell had been a member of Alexander United Methodist Church. She had also served on the Passavant Area Hospital Board of Directors as well as the Passavant Auxiliary. She and her husband had been co-founders of Colwell Lumber Company in Meredosia and Jacksonville. Donna also worked for the Joe Corrigan Accounting firm in Springfield. In addition to traveling with Gil, she enjoyed music, dancing, and listening to David play organ and keyboard as well as visiting her grandchildren, Scott and Ashley. A private graveside service will be held at Diamond Grove Cemetery in Jacksonville. Memorials are suggested to Illinois School for the Visually Impaired or American Cancer Society.
