Donna Jean Meyer, 79, of Jacksonville, IL, passed away Friday, April 14, 2023, in Springfield. The daughter of John and Mae (Rodgers) Acree, she was born November 5, 1943, in Petersburg. Donna married Harold W. Meyer in 1961, and they later divorced. She is survived by her daughter, Lynnette (Robert Jr.) Elmore of Jacksonville; son, Phillip W. (Kimberly) Meyer of Springfield; four grandchildren, Mackenzie L. (Finis) Chism of Jacksonville, Bradley W. and Kyle R. Meyer, both of Chatham, and Bailey M. Meyer of Springfield; two brothers, Roy and Ray Burton; two sisters, Nancy and Joan; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents. Donna was a graduate of Winchester High School. She worked for many years at J. Capps & Sons. She was a beautician for several years, before retiring from the State of Illinois after 25+ years. Donna enjoyed watching NASCAR, Cubs baseball, and Lakers and Illini basketball. She loved bird watching, especially Cardinals. She also enjoyed flower and vegetable gardening. Donna loved her daughter and son deeply and cherished her grandchildren and her dog, Shaggy. A Celebration of Life gathering will be held 3-6 p.m. Thursday, April 20, 2023, at the Buchanan & Cody Funeral Home in Jacksonville.
