Obituary

Donna Moody, a beloved member of the Jacksonville, Illinois community, passed away peacefully on May 30, 2026, at the age of 86. Born on October 7, 1939, in Jacksonville, Donna was the cherished daughter of the late Edward and Ruth (Hayes) Strubbe. Her life's journey was marked by love, dedication, and an unwavering commitment to those around her and her Lord and Savior.

Donna graduated from Ashland High School in 1957.  Because of her interest in business, she earned a degree from Brown's Business College in Jacksonville, which laid the foundation for her career. She dedicated many years of her professional life to the Moody Implement Company, where her hard work, organizational skills, and determination earned her the respect and admiration of many customers until her retirement.

On October 21, 1962, Donna married the love of her life, Kawyn K. Moody.  Their marriage was a testament to love and partnership, spanning 40 enduring years until Kawyn's passing. Together, they raised a son, Kawyn Moody Jr., who was the light of her life and her pride and joy. Though their family was small, it was filled with immense love and warmth.

Donna's faith was an integral part of her life. She was a life-long active member of Salem Lutheran Church in Jacksonville, where she served with devotion on the Altar Guild, faithfully attended Bible Study, and contributed significantly to the Lutheran Women's Missionary League.

A woman of varied interests, Donna had a passion for eagle watching, exploring Route 66, and all things Allis-Chalmers. Her involvement with organizations such as the Prairieland Heritage Museum, Upper Midwest Allis-Chalmers Club, and the Rumley Allis Heritage Museum showcased her enthusiasm and expertise. Donna's contributions were recognized with her induction into the Hall of Fame at the Allis Connection, and her articles for "Old Allis News" were cherished by enthusiasts.

Family was the cornerstone of Donna's life. She is survived by her beloved son, Kawyn Moody Jr. of Jacksonville, and her brother, Joseph (Karen) Strubbe of Costa Mesa, California, and sister-in-law, Jeanne Strubbe of Chapin. Donna also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews, who remember her for her infectious smile and boundless generosity. She was predeceased by her husband, Kawyn, her parents, and her siblings, Mary Opperman Zenge, Larry Strubbe, Delores Lindsay, and Richard Strubbe.

Family will meet friends Wednesday June 3, between 4:00 and 6:00 p.m. at the Buchanan & Cody Funeral Home in Jacksonville. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, June 4, 2026, at 2:30 p.m. at Salem Lutheran Church, located at 222 E. Beecher Ave. in Jacksonville. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to Salem Lutheran School, reflecting Donna's commitment to education and community service.
