Donna J. Yates, 90, of Jacksonville, IL, died Saturday, Mar. 12, 2022, at her home. She was born May 6, 1931, at the family home in New Berlin, the daughter of Dr. Claude A. and Jean Dinwiddie Henley. She married David E. Jones on June 28, 1953, and he preceded her in death on Dec. 10, 1980. She later married Harold L. Yates in 1987 and he preceded her in death on Sept. 20, 2011. She is survived by one son, David A. Jones of Jacksonville; two daughters, Randi (Gregg) Adams of Jacksonville and Claudia A. Jones-Kluge of Virginia; five grandchildren, Linsay (Chris) Gordon of Springfield, Sara Lowe of Springfield, Denver Alderson of Jacksonville, Brittany A. (Bryan) Thompson of Marion, and Kayla (Chris) Wright of Franklin; seven great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by one daughter, Robyn Jones Yeaman (surviving husband Arnie of New Berlin); and one brother, Robert Henley. Mrs. Yates was a 1949 graduate of Jacksonville High School, and then graduated from Stephens College in Columbia, MO. During high school and on her college breaks, she worked for her mothers store, Doc & Jeans Tots & Teens in Downtown Jacksonville. Later in life she worked at Kmart. She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, the 49ers, and Jacksonville Herb Guild. She enjoyed the friendships she made at Fitness World. Donna danced through life, dressing up and entertaining. A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Friday, Mar. 18, 2022, at the Buchanan & Cody Funeral Home in Jacksonville. The family will meet friends 10-11 a.m. prior to the service. A private family burial will then be held at Woodwreath Cemetery near New Berlin. Memorials are suggested to the Rev.
