Dorothy Kay Daniel, 78, of Winchester, IL died Sunday, April 24, 2022, at Springfield Memorial Hospital. She was born Dec. 14, 1943, in Morgan County, the daughter of Richard Coy and Dorothy Mae (Walpole) Harney. She married Robert Lee Daniel on June 4, 1961, at Liter Baptist Church and he preceded her in death on March 22, 2006. She is survived by five sons and two daughters, Timothy Alan (Sandra) Daniel of Beardstown, Michael Lee (Tracy) Daniel of Center, MO, Bradley Dean (Donna) Daniel of Winchester, Chad Eric (Diane) Daniel of Manchester, Joshua Gary (Sabrina) Daniel of Jacksonville, Jackie (Eric) Ford of Merritt and Lillian (Eugene) Gray of Puxico, MO; twenty-one grandchildren; thirty-nine great grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; three brothers and two sisters, Richard (Sharon) Harney of Georgetown, TX, Karen (Robert) DeOrnellas of Jacksonville, Nancy (Terry) Flynn of Jacksonville, Wayne (Sharon) Harney of Granite City, and Jack (Malea) Harney of Jacksonville; nine nieces and eight nephews; several cousins; and her long-time friend, Kate Manker of Jacksonville. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one granddaughter, Denita Hedden in 2018; and one great grandson, Trenton L. Daniel in 2011. Dorothy was a 1961 graduate of Jacksonville High School and had been a laundry aide at Barton Stone Nursing Home, retiring July 6, 2011. She was of the Baptist faith. Dorothy and Robert owned Old County Store in Downtown Jacksonville and enjoyed traveling to craft shows. She enjoyed sewing and playing BINGO. She especially loved spending time with her grandkids and great grandkids. A visitation will be held from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM Thursday, April 28, 2022, at Buchanan & Cody Funeral Home in Jacksonville. A graveside service will follow at 2:15 PM at Jacksonville East Cemetery.
