Ellen Lou Simmons, 78, of Jacksonville, IL, died Sunday, May 11, 2025, at White Hall Nursing and Rehab.

She was born August 12, 1946, in Hillview, the daughter of Frank and Mabel (Pence) Allen. She was first married to George W. Elliott, and then later to Paul Simmons, who preceded her in death.

She is survived by her son and daughter, George Elliott and Vicky Vedder, both of South Jacksonville; stepson, John (Patricia) Simmons of Jacksonville; grandchildren, Dustin (Ginger) Molohon, Ryan (Kaitlyn) Vedder, and Cody Vedder; and great grandchildren, Miribell, Dayton, and Archer Molohon. She was preceded in death by her parents, both husbands, and a sister.

Ellen worked as a bookkeeper. She loved flowers, to go camping, and to sew.

Ellen's wishes were to be cremated. Her remains will be interred at Diamond Grove Cemetery on Friday, May 16, 2025, at 10 AM. Memorial donations are suggested to the Alzheimer's Association. The Buchanan & Cody Funeral Home in Jacksonville is assisting the family with arrangements.
