Elsie Mae Lamkular Platukas, age 87, of Cadiz, Kentucky, passed away Wednesday, May 31, 2023, at Shady Lawn Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Cadiz.

Born March 27, 1936, in Jacksonville, Illinois, she was the only daughter of Alfred Everette Lamkular and Edith Mae (Crews) Lamkular.

She attended Oak Ridge and Literberry Elementary Schools and later Virginia High School and Jacksonville High School.

On December 20, 1979, she married Tony Platukas in Garden City, Michigan. Previously, she was united in marriage with Kenneth Sigler of Springfield on March 27, 1953, in Jacksonville. They lived their married life in Springfield. To this union two children, Victoria Mae and Kenneth were born.

Mrs. Platukas was a homemaker and enjoyed going camping and traveling. She enjoyed spending time with her friends at T.O.P.S. and most especially loved all of her pets. She was a member of St. Stephen Catholic Church in Cadiz.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her step daughter, Christine Platukas.

She is survived by her husband, Anthony "Tony" Platukas of Cadiz; son, Kenneth R. Sigler, Jr. (Stacy Austin) of Springfield, Ill., daughter, Vickie (John) McCarty of Modesto, Ill.; two step daughters, Jean Marie (Tom) Kane of Garden City, Mich. and Korrinn Wood of Evansville, Ill.; four grandchildren, Jamie McCarty, Justin Sigler, Brandon Sigler, Leisha Genaw; seven great grandchildren, Logan McCarty, Savannah Currier, Britany Platukas, Emily Genaw, Avery, Brayden, and Ryder; cousin, Donna Reynolds of Mesa, Ariz.; and her chosen sister, "Nan" Dettloff.

Funeral mass will be held at St. Stephen Catholic Church, 1698 Canton Rd, Cadiz, at 12:00 p.m., Monday, June 5, 2023, with the visitation to begin at 11:00 a.m. until the hour of mass. Graveside services will be held Wednesday, June 7, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at Jacksonville East Cemetery, 600 Myrtle Street, Jacksonville, IL. Arrangements are being handled by Goodwin Funeral Home, 138 Main Street in Cadiz, KY. The Buchanan & Cody Funeral Home in Jacksonville is in charge of local arrangements.
