Evelyn A. Winner, 91, of Meredosia, IL, died Thursday, October 3, 2024, at Blessing Hospital in Quincy.

She was born January 29, 1933, the daughter of George and Norma (Ray) Milstead. Evelyn married Vernon Gene Winner, and he preceded her in death.

She is survived by her children, Tammy Hood (deceased husband, Larry McCollum) of Hannibal, MO, Randy (Peggy) Winner of Jacksonville, Dale (Diana) Winner of Mt. Sterling, Carolyn Lowe of Meredosia, and Melanie (Brian) Six of Chambersburg; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brothers, Darrell and Sonny Milstead; and sister, Janet Ainsworth.

Evelyn graduated from Chandlerville High School and then went on to beauty school. She worked as a beautician and had her own shop in Chandlerville and worked out of her home when they moved to Meredosia. Evelyn also worked for the Meredosia-Chambersburg School District for almost 25 years. She absolutely loved to make quilts and was even part of the Quilt Club in Meredosia. She was a great mom, grandma, and great grandma.

A memorial graveside service will be held at 10:00 AM Saturday, October 19, 2024, at Oakland Cemetery in Meredosia. Her husband, Gene, who died earlier this year, will be interred with her and will be given Military Funeral Honors. The Buchanan & Cody Funeral Home in Meredosia is assisting the family with arrangements.
