Forrest A. "Bird" Young, 78, of Tallula, IL, died Sunday, Aug. 1, 2021, at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield. He was born March 9, 1943, in Parnell, KY, the son of James Albert and Emma Irene McDaniel Young. He is survived by his companion, Stacey Brown of Tallula; two sons, Rodney Allen Young and Randall Wayne Young, both of Springfield; one daughter, Rachel Kay (Michael) Shay of Petersburg; four step-children, Zach (Emily) Brown, Amanda Brown, Codie Brown and Dustin (Paige) Brown, all of Tallula; fifteen grandchildren, Ray, Stephanie, Brian, Samantha, Camrin, Jesse, Kaylee, Delanie, Triston, Braelyn, Hailey, Stephanie, Piper, Chloe and Azariah; great grandchildren; and five sisters and three brothers, Betty Lehan of Virginia, Tim (Connie) Young of Springfield, Judy (Jim) Miller of Ashland, Albert Young (fianc, Heidi Hills) of Springfield, Marjorie (Paul) Harris of Ashland, Angela Young of Ashland, Richard Young of Tallula, and Rhonda Joerger of Rochester. He was preceded in death by one son, Ricky Eugene Young; one grandson, Curtis Michael in infancy; and five sisters and three brothers, Linda Sherman, Lena Arthur, Dora Tucker, Oliver Young, James Young, Charles Young, Mary Ruth Young, and Maudie Creighton. Forrest worked at the elevator in Pleasant Plains and enjoyed helping friends and neighbors. He was involved in real estate and enjoyed buying and selling homes. He also enjoyed gardening. He especially loved all his kids and grandkids, and anyone else who came along. A visitation will be held 10 11 a.m. Thursday, August 5, 2021, at the Buchanan & Cody Funeral Home in Ashland.
