George Robert
"Bob" Turner
Jun 25, 1940 — Nov 3, 2024
G. Robert "Bob" Turner died in Milton, FL, on Sunday, November 3, 2024, at 84 years old.
He was born on June 25, 1940, in Kansas City, MO, the son of Virgil and Virginia (Reynolds) Turner. Bob was raised in Virginia, IL, where his love of football began. He played football for Virginia High School and often shared those memories with his children and grandchildren.
He graduated from Virginia High School in 1958 and joined the United States Air Force after graduation and proudly served his country as an Air Police Officer. During his service, he was stationed in Libya and later in Omaha, NE, where he met the love of his life, Glenda Love. He and Glenda were married on July 7, 1962. They had 62 years of marriage together before he was called home to be with the Lord.
Bob and Glenda moved back to Virginia after the service. This is where they raised their three children, Steve Turner and Rich Turner, both of Virginia, and Jody Ennis of Florida. Upon retirement, they moved to Branson, MO. Four years ago, they moved to Florida next to their daughter, Jody, so she could look after her parents. While living in Florida, they attended the Calvary Baptist Church in Allentown.
Bob's calling was community service. His proudest service was when he joined the Virginia Masonic Lodge #544 on April 12, 1982. Bob was an Area Deputy Grand Master (ADGM) from October 5, 1996, to October 8, 1999. He served this lodge for 42 years.
He is survived by his wife Glenda; two sons Steve (Janet) Turner and Rich Turner, both of Virginia; and his daughter, Jody (Samuel) Ennis of Florida. He had eight grandchildren: Derek Turner (Kia) of Germany, Alex Turner (Kelli) and Kelsi Pherigo (Adam), both of Chandlerville, Kobe Turner (companion, Allyson) of Ashland, Josh Newman (companion, Angie) of Kentucky, Kayla Weaver of South Carolina, Trent Ennis and Keegan Ennis, both of Florida; ten great grandchildren; and two brothers, Rick Cox (Beth) and Mike Cox (Jeannie), both of Virginia; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and his beloved sister, Kay Schramm.
A funeral service will be held 10:00 am, Saturday, November 16, 2024, at the Buchanan & Cody Funeral Home in Virginia. The family will meet friends from 5:00 – 7:00 pm Friday, with Masonic Rites at 6:30 pm, also at the funeral home in Virginia. A burial will follow the service on Saturday at Walnut Ridge Cemetery, where Mr. Turner will receive Military Honors for his service in the USAF. Memorial gifts are suggested to Virginia Masonic Lodge #544 or Calvary Baptist Church in Allentown, FL. The Buchanan & Cody Funeral Home in Virginia is in charge of the arrangements.
