Obituary

Ileen Marie Six, 63, of Jacksonville, Illinois, passed away peacefully on Monday, June 1, 2026, at Memorial Hospital in Springfield.

Ileen was born on November 19, 1962, in Garden Grove, California, to Gloria Brindel.

She is survived by her daughters, Brittney Petefish (Gary) and Stephanie Mitchell, both of Jacksonville. She was a proud grandma to Gavin, Jenna, Kloe, Ariah, Nyah, and Brevyn, who brought endless joy to her life. Ileen is also survived by her sister and lifelong best friend, Marcy Hayes (Brian); her cherished nieces and nephew, Danielle Long (Bradley), Ashley Mulliniks (Clayton), and Ian Hayes; and her beloved great-nephews and great-niece, Quest, Lennox, Ledger, and Paisley. She also leaves behind her faithful companion and treasured puppy, Reese.

She was preceded in death by her precious daughter, Amanda Miller; her beloved brother, Michael Doyel; and her mom, Gloria Brindel.

Ileen graduated from Triopia High School in 1982. She dedicated much of her career to caring for others. She began working as a housekeeper at Modern Care Nursing Home and Barton Stone Nursing Home, where her strong work ethic and kind spirit were evident to all who knew her. Later, she became a Certified Nursing Assistant and continued her calling of helping others through her work at Passavant Area Hospital and Knollwood in Jacksonville.

Those who knew Ileen will remember her love of music. Many treasured family memories are tied to songs that filled her home and heart throughout the years. She adored spending time with her grandchildren and looked forward to every visit. One of her favorite things was her weekly donut date with her great-nephew, Ledger, a simple joy that meant the world to her. She also loved her time with her precious pup, Reese.

Ileen's greatest gift was her ability to love deeply and unconditionally. Her family finds comfort in imagining the joyful reunion that took place when she entered Heaven, where her mom, her brother Michael, and her precious daughter Amanda welcomed her with open arms.

A private graveside service will be held at Arcadia Cemetery at a later date. Memorials are suggested to 1C Church in South Jacksonville. The Buchanan & Cody Funeral Home in Jacksonville is in charge of the arrangements. Condolences may be left at buchanancody.com.
