Obituary

Jacqueline "Jackie" Sue Haverfield (Van Hyning), age 55, of Meredosia, Illinois, passed away on Tuesday, January 6, 2026, at Jacksonville Memorial Hospital in Jacksonville, Illinois.

Jackie was born November 21, 1970, in Denver, Colorado, to Eva Lee Van Hyning (Morrell) and the late Gerald Van Hyning. She attended Meredosia High School and spent her working years employed in factory work, as well as providing compassionate in-home care for others.

Above all else, Jackie loved her children and grandchildren. Her greatest accomplishment in life—and the source of her deepest pride—was her family. She was someone you could always count on, known for her heart of gold, loyalty, and strength.

Jackie is survived by her children: Dennis, Levi, Olivia, Aaron, Jeff (Kourtney) Haverfield, and Kirstian (Josh) Sethaler; and her beloved grandchildren: Riley and Reid Haverfield, Corbin Sethaler, and Adison Lewis. She is also survived by her mother, Eva Lee Van Hyning (Morrell); her siblings, Pam Austin and Christie Kutner of Meredosia, Illinois, and J.D. (Michelle) Van Hyning of Athens, Illinois; many nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly; and many friends. She was preceded in death by her father, Gerald Van Hyning.

Jackie enjoyed mushrooming, spending time with friends, coloring, playing cards, and—true to her personality—lived for her Mountain Dew. A true fighter, she battled cancer and won, facing life with courage and determination.

Jackie will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Her memory will live on through the many lives she touched with her kindness, dependability, and unwavering love for her family.

A visitation will be held from 1:00 – 4:00 PM Saturday, January 10, 2026, at Gospel Tabernacle Church in Meredosia, with a meal to follow. Cremation will follow the visitation and a burial will be held at a later date at Oakland Cemetery. Memorial donations in memory of Jackie may be made to the family, in care of Dennis. The Buchanan & Cody Funeral Home in Meredosia is in charge of arrangements. Condolences may be sent to buchanancody.com.
