James K. "Jim" Deppe, 77, of Virginia, IL, died Thursday, April 18, 2024, at The Grove Health and Rehab Center in Jacksonville.

He was born March 10, 1947, in Jacksonville, the son of William B. and Nell G. Deppe. He married Carolyn R. Jones on March 10, 1978, in Bluff Springs, and she survives.

He is also survived by a son, Shawn J. Lynn of Ashland; three daughters, Tonya R. Blazer (significant other, Rodney Perkins) of Carbon Cliff, Tiphiane D. (Todd) Vanwassnhove of Hanover, and Nicole M. (Steven M.) Moore of Ashland; many grandchildren and great grandchildren; one sister, Sylvia (Nelson Flemming) Buker of Mobile, AL; one brother, William Clint (Diane) Deppe of Cornland; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Jim was a graduate of Ashland High School and was a lifelong farmer. He served his country with the Navy Seabees from March 1968 to July 1969. He was a member of the Beardstown Elks Lodge for over 40 years. He loved hunting and taking care of the farm.

A funeral service will be held 2:00 pm Tuesday April 23, 2024, at the Buchanan & Cody Funeral Home in Ashland, with burial at Ashland Cemetery.
