Janet Yvonne Morris, 81, of White Hall, Illinois, and formerly of Jacksonville, Illinois, died Monday, September 21, 2026.

She was born July 23, 1945, in Springfield, the daughter of Ernest Dorland and Vena Louise (Pierce) DeFrates. Janet married Gary Lee Morris and had five sons together. They later divorced.

She is survived by her sons, Gregory Scott Morris of Rushville, and Ricky Lee Morris, Mark Allen Morris (wife, Deborah), Scott Allen Morris, and Brian Wayne Morris, all of Jacksonville. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Kyrie Eleison Miller (husband, Joey), Kahley Watkins (husband, Sam), Ian Dennis, Kayne Gideon-Maxwell Morris, and Abigail Indigo Morris; great grandchildren, Hunter, Roman, and Lux Watkins, DJ and Addy Dennis, and Danny Miller; and brother, Gary DeFrates of Jacksonville.

Janet earned her GED in 1978 through the State of Illinois. She was a stay-at-home mom before she decided to work as a CNA and worked until her retirement. Janet was an animal lover and enjoyed spending time with her pets. She also enjoyed being in the outdoors.

Janet’s wishes were to be cremated and there will be a memorial service 10:00 AM Friday, October 2, 2026, at the Buchanan & Cody Funeral Home in Jacksonville. Memorial donations are suggested to PAWS of Jacksonville. Condolences may be left at buchanancody.com.
