Janet Faye Davis Scott, 81, of Virginia, Illinois, passed away Monday, June 8, 2026, at her residence.

She was born June 30, 1944, in rural Chandlerville, to Lawrence Victor and Edna Faye (McDaniel) Davis. Janet married Earl Oliver Scott Jr. on June 1, 1963, and he preceded her in death on March 8, 2025.

She is survived by her three sons, Chris (Debbie) Scott of Peoria, Kevin (Nancy) Scott and Steven Scott, both of Virginia; four grandchildren, Aniya Scott, Omar Clements, Brig Scott, and Ariel Scott; one great grandson, Rickenzo Pullen Jr.; and three siblings, Ed (Harriett) Davis and Karen (Laymon) Carter, both of Virginia, and Darrell "Butch" (Ann) Davis. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; in-laws, Earl Oliver Scott Sr. and Anna Louise Scott; and sisters-in-law, Patti, Peggy, and Ruth.

Janet went to several grade schools and finished her schooling as a 1962 graduate of Balyki High School in Bath, IL. After marrying Earl in 1963, they moved to Virginia and raised their family. She worked for Virginia Inn for many years and Cass Meats, both in Virginia. Janet was a longtime member of First Presbyterian Church in Virginia, where she was a part of the Women's Guild. She was also an avid dog lover and Chicago Cubs fan.

A graveside service will be 11:00 AM Monday, June 15, 2026, at Walnut Ridge Cemetery. Memorial donations can be made to Cass County Animal Rescue or Virginia First Presbyterian Church. The Buchanan & Cody Funeral Home in Virginia is in charge of the arrangements.
