Jerry Dean Hastie, 67, of Jacksonville, IL died Friday, Dec. 30, 2022, at Springfield Memorial Hospital. He was born Aug. 17, 1955, in Jacksonville the son of Everett LeRoy and Rosa L. (Busch) Hastie. He was married to Patricia Ann Frazier and they later divorced. He is survived by his longtime companion Bonnie Ballard of Jacksonville; one daughter and two sons, Candice Frazier of Cameron Park, CA, Jerry "J.D." Hastie of Stryker, OH, and Larry (Laurie) Hastie of Palm Coast, FL; Bonnies children, Marc (Brianna) Brogdon of Jacksonville and Ashley Brogdon (fianc Christopher Reeves) of Chapin; twelve grandchildren; one great grandchild; and two brothers and one sister, Everett Hastie Jr. of Wichita, KS, Ralph (Carol) Hastie of Springfield, and Barbara (Ernest) Turner. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Shirley Edwards and Kathy Bentley; and one brother in infancy, Jimmy Hastie. Mr. Hastie retired from Jacksonville Iron & Metal after thirty years employment. He enjoyed working on his rental houses and tinkering on anything and everything. He enjoyed the outdoors, spending more time outside than inside, and especially enjoyed his kayaking trip with Bonnie to the Current River. Jerry loved his animals, had a good heart, and would do anything for anybody. A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 9, 2023, at the Buchanan & Cody Funeral Home in Jacksonville, with burial at Ebenezer Cemetery.
