Joanne Kathryn Louise Jackson, 70, of Kokomo, IN died Monday, April 21, 2025, at Jacksonville Memorial Hospital in Jacksonville, IL.

Joanne, AKA "Joan", was born August 18, 1954, in Jacksonville, the daughter of James Allen and Mattie Geneva Jackson.

Joan lived life to the fullest and always made sure that those around her were taken care of. No matter who you were, she always gave you a chance.

If she went fishing, you always knew there would be a fish fry, and you were invited because she loved sharing and wanted everyone to feel welcome.

Always reminiscing about the past, she loved retelling stories of her youth to the next generation. Whether it was over a scratch-cooked meal, or while you were snuggled up on the couch watching a cheesy horror movie, she loved entertaining guests.

No matter if you were right or wrong, you knew she was always going to stand up for her people regardless, and that's why she will always hold a special place in the hearts of her loved ones.

Joanne was preceded in death by her grandparents, Beulah Gardner & Emmett Wallace; her parents; husband, LA Jackson; five brothers, Charles, Joseph, James, Percy, & George; and grandson, Terry Wilson Jr.

Joanne is survived by her six children, Arvonda Jackson of Kokomo, IN, Launeice "Nelly" Jackson of Jacksonville, LA "Fatdaddy" Jackson Jr (Serina) Jackson of Jacksonville, Javonn (Brittny) Gardner of Winchester, Ceola "Lanie" Gardner of Jacksonville, and Gabrielle "Gabby" Rattler of Kokomo, IN and their families; three brothers, Krist (Annie) Jackson and Allen (Jeanette) Jackson, both of Jacksonville and Van "Butchie" (Carol) Jackson of Kokomo, IN; sister, Brenda K. Jackson of Jacksonville; and several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A memorial service will be held 11AM Friday, May 9, 2025, at the Buchanan & Cody Funeral Home in Jacksonville, with burial to follow at Jacksonville East Cemetery. The family will meet friends at the funeral home starting at 10AM until the time of service.
