JoEllen "Jo" Danenberger, 73, of Virginia, IL, passed away Thursday, October 24, 2024, at Springfield Memorial Hospital.

Jo was born July 31, 1951, in Pasadena, TX, to Joseph and Maxine Anderson. She was raised with a love for family and a strong work ethic. On June 17, 1973, Jo married Raymond "Bud" Danenberger, and they celebrated 51 years of marriage this year.

She graduated from Hillsboro High School in 1969. Soon after, she began a long and meaningful career with the Illinois State Board of Education, where she worked diligently from 1970 until her retirement in 2013.

Jo leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories with her husband, Raymond "Bud" Danenberger of Virginia; her children, Stuart Danenberger and his partner, Jen Scherr, of Peoria, and Stacy Danenberger of Virginia; and her beloved grandchildren, Michael and Mya Breckenridge. She is also survived by her sister, Rachel Howard of Coffeen; sister-in-law, Bobbie Yates of Ellicott City, MD; and many nieces and nephews, who will forever hold her in their hearts.

Jo was a dedicated and loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She was preceded in death by her father, Jospeh Anderson; mother and stepfather, Maxine and Sy LeMay; sister, Elizabeth Anderson; brother, William Anderson, brother-in-law, Jim Howard; and her infant granddaughter, Madysen Breckenridge.

In accordance with Jo's wishes, no services will be held at this time. Memorial contributions in her honor may be made to the American Heart Association, a cause near and dear to her.

Jo's kindness, warmth, and dedication to those she loved will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
