John Dean Miller, 90, of Jacksonville, Illinois, passed away Saturday, June 27, 2026, at Jacksonville Skilled Nursing. He was born October 3, 1935, the son of Dean and Josephine (Peters) Miller. He married Margaret Elnora Foulke  on July 28, 1954, in Jacksonville, and she preceded him in death on March 10, 2009.

John is survived by his four children, Julie (Dr. Jay) Bruninga, John David Miller, James (Bobbie) Miller, and Jeff Miller; grandchildren, Amanda Bruninga, Jeff Bruninga (Courtney Dubbin), Jeremy Miller, and Kristen (Felix) Castro; great-grandchild, Juniper Bruninga. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, and 2 siblings.

John was one of the original 13 employees when National Starch was established in Meredosia where he worked until retirement. John enjoyed sports, both playing and watching. College basketball and golf were his favorites in later years. John had a love for creatures of all kinds, over the years there were ducks, an owl, llamas, cows, horses, dogs, cats, and many birds.
