John Howard Spradlin, 68, of Meredosia, IL, and formerly of Ashland, died Thursday, June 5, 2025, in Ashland.

He was born August 17, 1956, in Jacksonville, the son of Claude "Salty" and Linda (Steele) Spradlin. He married Lila Sue Ruyle.

John is survived by his wife, Lila; sons, Jordan Spradlin of Brodhead, WI, and Jared Carson of Ashland; daughter, Skylar Tolbert of Macomb; grandchildren, Raelynn Johnson, Fallon and Harleigh Spradlin, Jacob, Emily, and Lily Carson, and Sam and Jack Cox; and sisters, Claudia Hart of Ashland and Ellen (Mike) Lapota of DeMotte, IN. He was preceded in death by his parents.

John worked for Whalen Trucking and Illinois Road Contractor, and also as a farmer. He enjoyed golfing and cold drinks with the guys. John was a lifelong resident of Cass County and was a great friend to many over the years and will be missed.
