Joyce Ann (Campbell) Albers, 63, of Meredosia, IL, died Wednesday, July 19, 2023, at her home.

She was born July 25, 1959, the daughter of Orville and Anna (Hankins) Campbell in Beardstown. Joyce was raised by her foster parents, Ray and Roberta Staake. She was married to Paul Albers.

Joyce is survived by her children, Melanie Scheafer (fiancé Steven Roberts) and Daniel Albers (Morgan Morris), both of Meredosia; grandchildren, Hailey and Isabella Scheafer, Hunter Roberts, Noah and James Albers, all of Meredosia; siblings, Cheryl (Curt) Campbell of Meredosia and Jim (Debbie) Campbell of Beardstown; foster siblings, Sandy (James) Brady of Chatham, Patricia Gerecke of Meredosia, and Roger Staake of Jacksonville. She was preceded in death by her parents; foster parents; sisters, Judy Gerecke (surviving husband, David of Meredosia) and Lisa Knapp; and niece, Nichole Donofrio (surviving husband, Eric of Tipp City, OH).

Mrs. Albers was a 1977 graduate of Meredosia-Chambersburg High School. She then graduated from the Cosmetology Program at John Wood Community College, earning an associate degree. She worked for Bound to Stay Bound in Jacksonville from 1990-2016 when she retired to help care for her grandchildren.

She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Neelyville. Joyce enjoyed being outdoors, solving jigsaw puzzles, playing solitaire, and watching hummingbirds. She adored her fur baby, Missy, and especially loved being with her family.

A memorial service will be held at 2 pm Thursday, July 27, 2023, at the Buchanan & Cody Funeral Home in Meredosia. The family will meet friends from 1-2 pm prior to the service. Memorials are suggested to PAWS of Jacksonville, where she adopted her beloved dog, Missy. The Buchanan & Cody Funeral Home in Meredosia is in charge of arrangements.
