Joyce
Schwalb
Jan 27, 1950 — Sep 20, 2024
Joyce JoAnn (Ruyle) Schwalb, 74, of Meredosia, IL passed away at her home surrounded by her loving family on Friday, September 20, 2024.
She was born January 27, 1950, in Jacksonville, the daughter of Lawrence Ruyle and Marlene Gregory. Joyce married Bruce Schwalb on July 24, 1965, and he survives.
Joyce is survived by her two children, Roni Rae (Dusty) Hull and Michael Wayne (Patti) Schwalb, both of Meredosia; six grandchildren, Dana (Michael) Cochran of Meredosia, Joshua (Ashley) Hull of Chambersburg, Kayla Marlene Schwalb of Meredosia, Austin Volk of Meredosia, Brittany Fulkerson (fiancée Brandon Mosher) of Modesto, and Haley Schwalb of Meredosia; eleven great grandchildren, Jayden Rae Gooding (Lars) of Meredosia, Wesley Lane (Ashley) Gooding of Versailles, Bella, Gracie, and Addie Hull of Chambersburg, Maddie Summer and Jason Schwalb of Meredosia, Kaylin, Brinley, and Brexley Mosher of Modesto; two great-great grandsons Kash and Kolt Gooding of Versailles; one sister and two brothers, Erma (Ed) Frank and John (Linda) Shepard, both of Arizona, and Larry (Laura) Ruyle of Jacksonville; and several nieces and nephews.
Joyce was preceded in death by her parents, Lawrence and Marlene; her twin sister, Judith Jean (Ruyle) Benjamin; grandson, Robert Schwalb; brothers-in-law, Darrell Benjamin, Craig and Aaron Schwalb, and sister-in-law Victoria (Schwalb) Earwood.
Joyce loved her family; her husband, kids, grandkids, great grandkids and great-great grandsons were her pride and joy. Joyce's bond with her twin sister Judy was unmatched, so for her to follow Judy to heaven within six short months was no surprise.
Before Joyce's illness she enjoyed shopping and gambling with her twin sister, Judy and daughter, Roni Rae, and hunting and camping with her family and friends. Joyce started her day with her morning coffee. She never wanted to miss The Price is Right or Wheel of Fortune. She had a very special aunt and uncle Cec and Harold Rohrer.
Joyce's wishes were to be cremated and asked that her honorary pallbearers be her nephews, Billy Troy, Ronnie Ham, and Darrell Benjamin; her son, Michael Schwalb; son-in-law, Dusty Hull; grandson, Joshua Hull; great grandsons, Wesley Gooding and Jason Schwalb; and grandson-in-law, Michael Cochran.
Joyce was blessed to have the best caretakers by her side during her difficult struggle with COPD. Her oldest granddaughter Dana Rache and her niece Brandy B were honored to be her strength on earth when she had none of her own.
