Katherine Caroline Lindsey was born to Emmett and Beulah Gardner, March 25, 1925. She was called home on September 14, 2023. She is survived by her Godson, James Yancy Jr. of Detroit, Michigan, and Eliza Yancy, whom she cared for as her daughter and loved dearly.

Katherine resided in Detroit, Michigan until she moved to Jacksonville, Illinois in September 2021. She worked as a domestic worker for many years. She was an Usher for many years at New Pilgrim Missionary Baptist Church. Aunt Kat loved her family and her soaps.

She was preceded in death by her father, mother, 6 sisters, 3 brothers and her late husband, Van Lindsey.

She leaves to cherish her memory a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and great-great nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held 12 p.m. Saturday, September 23, 2023, at the Buchanan & Cody Funeral Home in Jacksonville. The family will meet friends 11 a.m.-12 p.m. prior to the service. Condolences may be left at buchanancody.com.
