Katherine Ann Stauffer, 92, a longtime Jacksonville, IL resident, passed away Monday, Jan. 20, 2025, in Aurora.

She was born Nov. 1, 1932, in Jacksonville the daughter of George Stewart and Veda I. (Shay) Whitacre. She married Lewis "Lee" Stauffer on Aug. 20, 1955, in Jacksonville, and he preceded her in death on Sept. 20, 2017.

She is survived by her daughter, Vickie (Dave) Baier of Montgomery; three grandchildren, Kimberly (Greg) Wurtz of Jacksonville, FL, Matthew (Julie) Baier of Powder Springs, GA, and Brian (Vanessa) Baier of Montgomery; and seven great grandchildren, Clement, Oliver, and Helena Wurtz, Madelyn and Hailey Baier, and Kyla and Alexia Baier. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her brother and sister-in-law, John E. and H. Maxine Whitacre; and her sister, Norma Jean Whitacre.

Mrs. Stauffer was a 1950 graduate of Jacksonville High School. She owned and operated Whitacre's Tailoring & Alterations for forty years. She was a member of Central Christian Church. Katherine enjoyed reading and playing pinochle and bunco.

A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 31, 2025, at the Buchanan & Cody Funeral Home in Jacksonville, with burial at Memorial Lawn Cemetery.
