Lloyd "Dutch" Edward Kleinlein, 93, of Jacksonville, IL, passed away peacefully at home on October 29, 2024.

Lloyd was born in Brown County on May 5, 1931, the son of Oliver and Minnie (Dennis) Kleinlein. He married Margaret Unland on Sept. 24, 1955, in Hernando, MS, and she preceded him in death on Aug. 27, 2008.

He is survived by one son and two daughters, Mark (wife Ellen) Kleinlein of Simpsonville, SC, Connie (husband David) Staake of Staunton, and Linda Johnson of Winchester; seven grandchildren, Casandra (husband Ryan) Turner of Jacksonville, Scott (wife Kristi) Kleinlein of Greenville, SC, Daniel (wife Stacey) Staake of Maryville, Kevin Staake of St. Louis, MO, Brittany (husband Shawn) Forbes of Waterloo, Erin (husband Ian) Becker of Jacksonville, and Evan (wife Allie) Johnson of Winchester; eighteen great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; and siblings Lyle Kleinlein, Bob Kleinlein, Irene Bradbury, and Harold Kleinlein.

Mr. Kleinlein graduated from Perry High School in 1949. He was a veteran of the Korean War, serving as a Paratrooper in the Airborne Division of the Army from 1951-1954. After his discharge, he began working at National Starch & Chemical Company in 1957, retiring in 1992.

Lloyd was a devoted member of Faith Lutheran Church of Jacksonville and a skilled woodworker who enjoyed gifting his creations to family and friends. He loved spending time with and telling stories to his friends, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 6, 2024, at Faith Lutheran Church, with burial at Oakland Cemetery in Meredosia. A visitation will be held 10-11 a.m. prior to the service. Following the burial, a reception to celebrate the life of Lloyd will be held at Faith Lutheran Church. Memorials are suggested to Faith Lutheran Church.
