Loren A. "Butch" Dunmire, 77, of Meredosia, IL passed away Tuesday, Nov. 5, 2024, at his home.

He was born Feb. 26, 1947, at home in Meredosia, the son of Albert Loren and Clara Mae (Floyd) Dunmire. He married Sandy Malcomson on Jan. 21, 1967, in Mt. Sterling and she survives.

He is also survived by three daughters, Brenda (husband Garry) Baker of Bluffs, Amanda McKeon of Murrayville, and Courtney Dunmire of Meredosia; five grandchildren, Jessika (husband David) Floyd, Erik (wife Emmy) Dorsey, Kody (wife Pamela) McKeon, Kaci McKeon, and Will Burton; six great grandchildren, Maeleigh Alexander, Reed Smith, Hayden Dorsey, Maysin Alexander, Tristan Floyd, and Luna Floyd; two brothers, Terry (wife Pati) Dunmire of Murrayville, Ed (wife Nancy) Dunmire of Pittsfield; two sisters, Judy (husband Mike) Snyder of Versailles, and Susan (husband Mike) Colwell of Jacksonville; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister and brother-in-law, Jean and George Allen; and one brother in infancy, Randy Dunmire.

Mr. Dunmire was a 1966 graduate of Meredosia-Chambersburg High School. He served in the U.S. Army from 1966-68. Butch farmed for 27 years, worked for Freesen Inc. as a heavy equipment operator for 7 years, and was employed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers as a striker on the Dredge Potter. He was a member of AMVETS Post 100, American Legion, Moose Lodge 865, and the United Mineworkers.
