Lynda Sue Beckemeyer McCollum, 73, of Jacksonville, IL passed away Sunday, June 28, 2026.

She was born August 7, 1952, in Chicago, the daughter of Lester and Jennie (Guestella) Beckemeyer. Lynda married David McCollum on October 2, 1982, in Rockton and he survives.

Lynda is also survived by her daughter, Amy McCollum of Jacksonville; her granddaughter, Alessa McCollum of Jacksonville; and sisters, Joan Heinzman of Jacksonville, Cira Passley of Mesa, Arizona, and Marilyn Arbisi and Judy Clark, both of Rockford. She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers, Joseph Beckemeyer in infancy and Don Beckemeyer.

Lynda worked for the City of Jacksonville until Amy was born and then became a full-time mother. She was a Cardinals fan until Dave converted her to a Cubs fan, and she was a 3 p.m. bargain hunter.

A private graveside service will be held at Memorial Lawn Cemetery. The family will meet friends from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 2, 2026, at the Buchanan & Cody Funeral Home in Jacksonville.
