Madeline Kay Buhlig, 73, of Meredosia, IL, died Wednesday, December 6, 2023, at Jacksonville Memorial Hospital.

She was born January 16, 1950, in Jacksonville, the daughter of William K. and Olive Mardell (Nunn) Lidgard. Madeline married Donald R. Buhlig Jr. on June 2, 1968, in Chambersburg, and he survives.

Madeline is also survived by two sons, William (Sarah) Buhlig of Naperville and Jon (Shelley) Buhlig of Monroe City, MO; grandchildren, Matthew, Lance, Logan, and Reece Buhlig and Dylan, Brock, and Chase Buckman; and sisters, Marsha Bina of Arenzville, Carla (Steve) Ingram of Decatur, and Terri (Steve) Smith of Chambersburg. She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Letha Ann Edlen (surviving husband, David of Jefferson City, MO).

Madeline was a 1968 graduate of Meredosia-Chambersburg High School. She was a longtime district secretary for Meredosia-Chambersburg Schools and had also served on the Board. She was a member of Chambersburg Christian Church. She had been an EMT and then served as treasurer for the Meredosia Rescue Squad, as well as a Cub Scout Leader for Pack 117 in Meredosia, a Band Aid for the school band, and an organizer for the Senior Saints. Madeline enjoyed baking cookies, cross-stitching, and stitching Christmas stockings for many children and different families.

A funeral service for Madeline will be held 2 pm Monday, December 11, 2023, at Chambersburg Christian Church. A visitation will be held from 1 – 2 pm, prior to the service.
