Marjorie "Margie" Jeanette (Jockisch) Brown, 87, died Saturday, July 29, 2023, at Walker Nursing Home in Virginia, IL.

She was born July 17, 1936, in Beardstown, to Elmer Clyde "Tom" and Edith Vera (Elliott) Jockisch. Margie married Owen Lee Brown on September 2, 1956, at Eckman Chapel in Ashland. He preceded her in death in 2007.

She is survived by her daughters, Nancy (Richard) Sapp of Virginia, Cathy (Lloyd) Bulman of Buckner, MO, and Lori (Guy) Robson of Linden, TX; stepson, Rick Brown (deceased wife, Lou Ann) of Jacksonville; grandchildren, Taylor (Jared) Anderson of Crosby, TX, and Brandy (Nathan) Timmons of Jacksonville; great grandchildren, Toby and Keaton Sapp of Monroe City, MO, Gage Huber of Quincy, and Sophie McGraw of Jacksonville; brother-in-law, Harold Scholes; sisters-in-law, Ina Trenter, Doris Brown, and Charlotte Brown; and many nieces and nephews from the Brown and Jockisch families.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; siblings, Medford Jockisch (surviving wife Ethel), Ronald and Hazel Jockisch, Dovie Scholes, and Kathryn and Walter Dean Cox; and one grandson, Benjamin R. Sapp.

Margie loved to crochet afghans and to bake for her family. She was always ready with a smile and a helping hand.

A funeral service will be held at 10:30 am Thursday, August 3, 2023, at the Buchanan & Cody Funeral Home in Jacksonville.

The family will meet friends 9-10:30 am prior to the service. Memorials are suggested to Cass-Schuyler Area Hospice or Walker Nursing Home. The Buchanan & Cody Funeral Home in Jacksonville is in charge of arrangements. Condolences may be left online at buchanancody.com.
