Mark Jonathan Staake, 62, of Jacksonville, IL passed away, Tuesday September 24, 2024, at St. John's Hospital in Springfield.

He was born August 29, 1962, the son of Martin John and Marjorie (Nergenah) Staake. He married Kelly Becker on June 26, 1993, in Jacksonville and she survives.

He is also survived by two sisters, Marsha (David) Schoth of Chapin, and Marla K (Orville) Wheatley of Jacksonville; four nieces and nephews, Andrew (Jade) Bumgarner, Kara (Bryce) McCormick, Cliff (Emily) Bumgarner, and Laura (Travis) Skultety. He also had nine great nieces and nephews, Avery Garner, Canon Bumgarner, Addalyn McCormick, Kaden McCormick, Paityn McCormick, Ty Bumgarner, Elly Bumgarner, Sophia Skultety, and Archer Skultety. He was preceded in death by his parents and one great nephew, Brady Bumgarner.

Mark was a graduate of Triopia High School and earned his bachelor's degree from Western Illinois University. He worked as an AG lender for Farm Credit Illinois and he also farmed in Chapin. In his spare time Mark enjoyed golfing, watching movies, and was an avid sports fan.

The family will meet friends 5-7 p.m. Monday September 30, 2024, at the Buchanan & Cody Funeral Home in Jacksonville. A private graveside burial will be held at Grace Cemetery near Chapin. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Grace Cemetery. Condolences may be left at buchanancody.com.
