Martha "Marty" Dee Armstrong from Versailles, IL gained her heavenly wings on Saturday, Dec 17, 2022.
She was born in New London, New York on Sept 30, 1946. She was preceeded in death by her parents and her brother.
Marty proudly served her country as a U.S. Marine for 12 years, stationed out of Camp Lejeune NC. Her favorite time was spent in Okinawa, Japan (don't ask). She later retired from EMI of Jacksonville. After retirement she moved back to NC where she loved walking on the beaches, gathering seashells and watching the beautiful sunsets. When she came back to Brown County her passions were fishing and hunting Morrell mushrooms, hoping to someday find the motherload. I guess she has now. Miss Marty will never be forgotten by her family and friends that loved her. Until we meet again my friend, "Soar High with the Eagles."
A graveside memorial service with military honors will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, July 1, 2023, at Versailles West Cemetery. A gathering will be held following the services at the home of Phyllis Writt in Versailles. The Buchanan & Cody Funeral Home in Meredosia is assisting the family. Condolences may be left at buchanancody.com.
