Marvin E. Williams, 75, of Ashland, IL, died Friday, Feb. 25, 2022, at Springfield Memorial Hospital. He was born July 28, 1946, in Richland, MO, the son of Gordon and Essie Holder Williams. He married Janice Gorsage DeWitt on Sept. 7, 1990, in Kincaid and she survives. He is also survived by five sons and one daughter, Trevor Williams, Tom (Kristen) DeWitt of Jacksonville, Susan Michelle Cunningham, Jeff Williams, Matt (Mindy) DeWitt of Petersburg, and Daniel Eric Williams; many grandchildren; and one brother, Morris (Nancy) Williams of Missouri. He was preceded in death by his parents; and one sister, Mariva Harris. Mr. Williams was a boiler operator at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield for 28 years, retiring in 2005. He was of the southern Baptist faith. He was a Vietnam War veteran of the U.S. Army, serving for twelve years active duty and twelve years in the Army National Guard. Marvin enjoyed hunting deer and turkeys, carpentry, and fishing. The family will meet friends 4-6 p.m. Thursday, Mar. 3, 2022, at the Buchanan & Cody Funeral Home in Ashland.
