Mary I. Buhlig, 69, of Meredosia, IL, died Thursday, March 31, 2022, at Jacksonville Memorial Hospital. Mary was born November 19, 1952, in Beardstown, the daughter of Carl Caldwell and Emma Lou Ballard. She married Berkeley Buhlig, and he survives. She is also survived by her daughter, Lucinda Elizabeth (William Oscar II) Smith of Williamsburg, VA; three grandchildren, Dilon (Hannah) Buhlig of Nettick, MA, Alexander Quintin Smith of Mason City, IA, and William Oscar Smith of Williamsburg, VA; and three brothers and one sister, Thomas Caldwell of Oregon, William (Patty) Caldwell of Colorado, Joe (Patty) Caldwell of Jacksonville, and Teresea (Dan) Little of Meredosia. Mary was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, John Caldwell. Mary was a hair stylist, working out of her home and at Beardstown Hospital. She was a member of Church of Our Saviour in Jacksonville and of the Multiple Sclerosis Society. Mary also enjoyed traveling to Virginia to spend time with her family. A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 5, 2022, at the Buchanan & Cody Funeral Home in Meredosia, with burial at Oakland Cemetery.
