Mildred Eileen Harris, 89, of Ashland, IL died Thursday, Aug. 31, 2023, at Sunny Acres Nursing Home in Petersburg.

She was born Dec. 1, 1933, in Springfield, the daughter of Truman Sr. and Nettie (Daniels) Isley. She married Earnest E. Harris on July 18, 1952, in Springfield and he preceded her in death on July 6, 2000.

She is survived by two sons and one daughter, Paul Harris, Betty (Chuck) Griffin, and Steve Harris (fiance, Julie Ackerman), all of Ashland; eleven grandchildren; many great grandchildren; and one great-great granddaughter. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two sons, David Wayne Harris and Charles "Chuck" Harris (surviving wife Jeannie of Ashland); three brothers, Truman Isley Jr., Richard Isley, and Allen Isley; and one sister in infancy, Mary Jane Isley.

Mrs. Harris enjoyed canning, fishing, reciting nursery rhymes, and collecting owls. She especially loved being a wife, mother, and grandmother.

A funeral service will be held 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 7, 2023, at First Baptist Church in Ashland, with burial at Ashland Cemetery. The family will meet friends 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 6, 2023, at the church. Memorials are suggested to First Baptist Church or American Diabetes Association.
