Nancy C. Stephens, 79, died Thursday, May 12, 2022, at her home in Ashland, IL. She was born January 10, 1943, in Keokuk, IA, the daughter of Francis Eldred and Jean Cochran Cornelius. She married Charles Thurnell Stephens, and he preceded her in death. Nancy is survived by two sons and one daughter, John (Amy) Stephens of Wausau, WI, Anthony Stephens of Ashland, and Cathy Stephens of Shelbyville; and grandson, Josh Stephens of Shelbyville. Mrs. Stephens graduated from Springfield Lanphier High School and then from Passavant School of Nursing. She was a Registered Nurse for the State of Illinois, working for the Jacksonville Developmental Center and then for the Jacksonville Correctional Center until retirement. She enjoyed quilting and gardening. A private family service will be held, with burial at Camp Butler National Cemetery held at a later date.
