Norma J. Drake, 82, of Springfield, IL, passed away on Sunday, April 6, 2025, at The Arc at Sangamon Valley in Springfield.

She was born on December 8, 1942, in Loogootee, IL, the daughter of Clarence Harris and Thelma Roberts. She married Robert Vernon Drake on August 3, 1962, at Ashland First Baptist Church and he preceded her in death on February 8, 2002.

She is survived by her children, Edward Drake of Springfield, Cynthia (Bob) Clevenger of Germantown Hills, and Pam Melton of Springfield; four grandchildren, Richard (Becky) Combs, David Combs, Michael (Jasmine) Drake, and Robert Tuttle; five great grandchildren; and her sister, Pat Guffey of Ashland. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; four brothers, Ernest, Stanley, James, and Clyde Harris; and three sisters, Helen Bowes, Shirley Pontious, and Roselina Harris.

Norma worked at General Casualty Insurance as an underwriter for 35 years before retiring. She had attended Real Life Church in Springfield. She enjoyed reading, especially books by Danielle Steel, and birdwatching from her kitchen table. Norma loved to spend time with family.

Norma's wishes were to be cremated. A graveside service will be held 10 AM Tuesday, April 15, 2025, at Ashland Cemetery. The Buchanan & Cody Funeral Home in Ashland is assisting the family. Condolences may be left online at buchanancody.com.
