Paul A. Davis Jr., 80, of Jacksonville, IL, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 1, 2022, at St. Johns Hospital in Springfield. He was born March 2, 1942, in Jacksonville, the son of Paul A. Sr. and Helen J. (Fanning) Davis. Paul married Mary V. Rogers in Jacksonville, and she survives. He is also survived by three children, Melissa (Tom) McCombs of New Berlin, Lora (Donal) Wheatley of Murrayville, and Scott Davis of Springfield; grandchildren, Casey, Chris, Lisa, Pamela, Kimberly, Theresa, Katie, Austin, Nick, and Wyatt; four great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; brother, John Davis of Jacksonville; and many nieces and nephews. Paul was preceded in death by his parents; and his sister, Sylvia Watson. Mr. Davis worked as the produce manager at Jims Big Value in Jacksonville, and then for Eagle Food Center in Jacksonville and Springfield. He was a member of St. Josephs Catholic Church in Springfield. Paul was also a member of Jacksonville Jaycees and the Eagles Club in Springfield. He loved everything John Deere, watching Illini and Bulls basketball games, and going to car shows. A funeral service will be held 10:30 am Tuesday, Nov. 8, 2022, at the Buchanan & Cody Funeral Home in Jacksonville, with burial at Jacksonville East Cemetery. The family will meet friends from 4-6 pm Monday, Nov. 7, 2022, at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to St. Jude Childrens Research Hospital or Wounded Warrior Project.
